Thank you all for providing input. Let's keep talking. When an idea hits you that you think could benefit the cluster let us all hear from you. As time passes and it gets closer to the fall event we will refine and finalize. In the meantime and fyi I know Rev. Randy wants to have small group discussions so we can look forward to this. I am wondering about lengthening the day. Is this to much of a problem for most? To end at 2p or 2:30p is really challenging when we do not start until 10a. Maybe have registration earlier 8a-9a and have the pre registration done by mail &/or email. Late comers will be welcomed but not at the expense of the group which will have started at 9 or 9:30. Then we can have breaks allowing for chatting, socializing, snack mid morning and mid afternoon. 3o mins each. Yes, No??
I am fine with HOV=2 instead of 4 receiving gas reimbursement. Love the door prize idea also.
Re nametags. The goal is for each of us to be able to not only put a name with a face but to identify who is from what congregation. If we make nametags, at or before the gathering, we can use the same color paper or shape to identify all from one congregation. One complaint from last meeting was that even though we had nametags it was difficult to read the names and almost impossible to read the congregation if written out because out of necessity the writing was small. Maybe just Gainesville, St Augustine or DeLand etc. would identify the congregation. It would be nice for each congregation to stand during the ingathering and identify their congregation (sort of like the banner parade without the parade, maybe we can do a parade of banners............(think about it).....
Also Lola mentioned her interest in other congregations' best practices. Others in the cluster have asked me about this also. Would it be possible for each of us to bring a sample of our congregation's order of service, newsletter, procedure for joys and concerns, and any other practices which is used every Sunday for the service. We can invite the congregations who are not represented on the Leadership Team to participate in this voluntary action.
I know Gainesville has a book table. Do any others have a book table? I would like to purchase the books we offer to benefit one of our congregations. Also will add some of the anti racial books suggested by the district. Others? Let me Know.
Love Jack's idea of questions. Use during the opening then again at the closing. I hope to have handouts for folks to take with them also b ut only if this makes sense as we do not want to kill a tree(s) unnecessarily. With electronics it may not be necessary for all but we do not want to lose sight of the fact that not all of us use computers.
Exciting. Let's keep talking!
